As Remembrance Day approaches students were challenged to reflect on what peace means to them. They expressed their ideas in words and pictures. After completing their initial drafts of their illustrations, the students provided feedback to each other to help their images become better. Their final artwork was created with pencil crayon and "magic" water colour pencils. Some of their ideas included: * "Peaceful means having no war and having good fill our hearts." * "Peace is quiet and fun. It is being happy and caring for each other. It is NO violence." * "Peace means having a safe country." * "Peace means hugging each other and playing with each other." * "Peace means spending time with my family. " * "Peace is quiet and it means fun and it means happiness and soldiers don’t want to fight anymore." * "I am doing peace by being friendly." * "Helping each other is what we need to do. Helping each other helps us too. " |

Cat Vs Dog
Before, during and after reading the Book 'Cat Vs Dog' students compiled a list of characteristics and features of each both animals. These were then sorted and categorized with the use of a Venn-Diagram. The students were shocked to see how many similarities the two animals had when it was represented in this visual form. The reading of the book was stopped at a particular page where it showed the contrasting lifestyles of the characters. They used their inferencing skills to use the provided clues to make assumptions and predictions about the cat and the dog.
